Android app overview
What the SalesYatra Android app is for, what it does that the portal cannot, and where each of its tabs is documented.
The SalesYatra Android app is for the sales team on the road: reps and their managers. It does the few jobs you do away from a desk (logging a visit, raising an order, planning the week, deciding what your team sent you) and leaves the rest to the field portal. You sign in with the same account you use on the portal, and both show the same records.
What only the app can do
- Start and end your working day. Each morning you start your day with a photo of your odometer and its reading, and check-ins open. Ending a day you started with your own vehicle, with a second reading, files the drive as a travel claim. See Start and end your day.
- Prove a visit at the school gate. You check in with one GPS reading and a photo of the school. The app lets you check in only when you are within the school's fence (100 metres unless your administrator has widened it). The portal cannot take this proof, so a visit logged there is marked as a web entry.
- Log visits with no signal. A check-in and its report, and the start and end of your day, are saved on the phone first and sent when you are back online. Nothing is lost at a gate with no coverage.
- Show your manager your day on the road. From the moment you start your day until it ends, while the app is on your screen, it notes where you are every three minutes. Your manager sees your odometer readings, the day's stops and roughly how far you travelled on Team on the road. It stops as soon as the app leaves your screen.
- Open approval emails straight on the item. A manager who taps an approval link on the phone lands on that order or plan in the app, ready to decide.
The tabs
The tab bar along the bottom has five tabs. Approvals appears only for managers. A dealer's login has Orders alone, and the app never notes where it is.

What stays on the portal
The app deliberately leaves desk work to the portal. Use the field portal to:
- file a day's spend and attach the bills (Daily expenses). The app files only the day's drive, when you end a day you started with your own vehicle.
- raise stock, sampling and workshop requests, and approve them (Requests)
- bill an order to a dealer or another party, or set its payment terms, freight and PO details (Orders)
- read and comment on your team's visits (Visits)
- see where your team is (Team on the road)
- work with adoptions, quotations, your stock, documents and the full dues list
