Finding your way around
How every SalesYatra screen is laid out, from the sidebar and your user card to tables, dates and search.
The Field, Admin and Accounts apps share one layout. The sidebar is on the left, a header runs across the top, and the screen you are working on fills the middle. The sidebar stays in place while the page scrolls, so the menu and the sign-out button are always in reach.
The sidebar
Switch between apps
SalesYatra is three apps in one: the Field App, the Admin App and the Accounts App. The top of the sidebar names the app you are in. If your role can open more than one, select that name and pick another under Switch app. The list holds only the apps your role can open, so a sales executive sees just the Field App and has nothing to switch to.
| Role | Apps in the switcher |
|---|---|
| Sales Executive, Assistant Territory Manager, Area Sales Manager and up | Field App |
| Dispatch (Warehouse) | Dispatch, the warehouse's view of the Field App |
| Accounts (Billing), Accountant (read-only) | Accounts App |
| Administrator | Field App, Admin App and Accounts App |
The groups in each app
Under the switcher, each app's screens sit in groups. Select a group's heading to fold it away or open it again. SalesYatra remembers which groups you folded, and the group holding the screen you are on always stays open, so the menu never hides where you are.
| App | Groups and screens |
|---|---|
| Field App | Dashboard · Plans & spend: Travel Plans, Daily Expenses · Schools: My Schools, Visits, Adoptions · Sales: Orders, Quotations, Dues · Stock & materials: Requests, My Stock, Documents |
| Field App, for Area Sales Managers and above | Also Team: Approvals, Team on the road |
| Field App, for administrators | Also Dispatch, under Stock & materials |
| Dispatch, for warehouse staff | Dispatch and Orders only |
| Admin App | Dashboard, Reports · People: Executives, Team performance, Employee report · Territory & customers: Geography, Schools, Trade parties · Catalogue & stock: Catalogue, Stock · Setup: Import, Settings |
| Accounts App | Home, Parties · Sales: Sale invoices, Quotations, Proforma invoices, Delivery challans · Money in: Payment-In, Collections to confirm, Cheques · Returns: Returns to credit, Credit notes · Money out: Expenses, Staff claims · Books & reports: Cash & Bank, Daybook, Reports · Setup: Import from Vyapar, Setup |
The accountant's Accounts App has everything except Import from Vyapar. These docs group their pages the same way, so a screen sits under the same heading here as in the app.
On a phone-sized browser the sidebar is hidden. Select the menu button at the top left to open it. It stays open while you fold groups or switch apps, and closes when you pick a screen or select Close menu.
Your user card
The foot of the sidebar shows who you are signed in as:
- your initial, name and email address
- the sign-out button, next to your name
- your role, as a badge, such as Area Sales Manager
- who your records go to for approval
The last line is worth reading on your first day. It is one of these:
| It says | What it means |
|---|---|
| Approvals go to followed by a name | Your orders, requests and travel plans go to that person first. |
| Approvals go to the administrators | Your records go straight to the administrators, usually because there is no manager above you. |
| You approve your own records. | You are an administrator and there is no other administrator to ask. |
| No approver is set — ask your administrator. | Nobody can be reached. Ask your administrator to set your Reports to. |
Roles and permissions explains how SalesYatra picks the person.
The header
The header names the part you are in: Field, Dispatch, Admin or Accounts. On the right are two buttons:
- The bell shows your notifications. See Notifications and emails.
- The sun or moon switches between the light and dark themes. It is on the sign-in page too.
In Accounts, the Showing switcher sits just below the header. It chooses whose books you are looking at: Both firms, Domato Book Co. or Dominions. SalesYatra remembers the choice in this browser only, so another browser or computer starts on Both firms.
Tables
Most registers are tables with the same controls:
- Search… above the table narrows the rows as you type, on registers that have it.
- Buttons or tabs above some tables switch the view, such as My visits and My team, or My orders and Team orders.
- Below the table, SalesYatra shows how many records there are, 15 to a page. Use Previous and Next to move between pages.
- While a table loads, grey placeholder rows hold its place. An empty table says No records.
Excel downloads are on the report screens: Export .xlsx under Admin panel → Reports and Employee report, and Export to Excel on many of the Accounts reports.
Forms
- A date field opens a calendar. It reads Pick a date until you choose one, then shows the date as, for example, 25 Sep 2026.
- If something you entered can't be saved, the reason appears under the field it is about.
Dates and times
Every date in SalesYatra is India's date. "Today" means today in India, on every screen and in every report, and a visit logged just after midnight belongs to the new day. A form's date starts at your device's own today, so keep your phone and computer on the right date and time zone.
The academic year runs from April to March and is written as 2026-2027. Forms that ask for a year start at the current one.
Links that open a record
A link in an email or a notification opens the record itself, not just the screen it lives on. An approval link, for example, opens the Approvals page on the right tab with the record already open. If the record has moved on since, SalesYatra tells you so and shows the rest of the queue. See Notifications and emails.
Keyboard shortcuts
SalesYatra has no keyboard shortcuts of its own.
Search these docs
Press ⌘ K on a Mac or Ctrl K on Windows, or select the search box at the top of any page. Search covers page titles, descriptions, headings and text. Open SalesYatra at the top right takes you to the sign-in page.
